BMGF Professional Development Awards

With a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, ISID will support approximately 50 early career investigators to attend the ISID Congress 2022 and present their work during one of the poster or oral sessions. Grants will be awarded to the highest-ranking abstract presenters addressing challenges in the area of infectious diseases in low- and middle-income countries in the Southeast Asia and Western Pacific regions*. The grant includes reimbursement of approved travel expenses, Congress registration, hotel accommodation, and, if needed, costs associated with visa application.

Eligibility and Application Procedure:

  • Applicants must be less than 40 years of age as of October 25, 2021.
  • Applicants MUST be living and working in one of the countries listed below.
  • To apply, interested applicants must submit an abstract describing their own original research to the ISID Congress 2022 as a presenting author.

Sts., Mongolia, Myanmar, Nauru, Pakistan, Philippines, American Samoa, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Vietnam.

ISID Award – supported through a grant from MyCEB

The International Society for Infectious Diseases is delighted to continue the ISID New Investigator Award for the ISID Congress 2022. The award includes round trip economy airfare to the Congress, hotel accommodation and registration for the Congress. The award will be presented during the Opening Ceremony in Kuala Lumpur.

Eligibility and Application Procedure:

  • Applicants must be based in a low- or middle-income country according to the World Bank.
  • Applicants must submit to the ISID Congress 2022 and have accepted an abstract of original research on any aspect of infectious diseases not previously published or presented at an international meeting.
  • Only applicants who have not previously had an abstract accepted for oral presentation at an international meeting are eligible. For purposes of this award, acceptance of abstracts at regional meetings outside North America or Europe does not affect eligibility.
