Yasmin A. Malik is currently the Visiting Clinical Consultant with the Medical Microbiology Department, University Malaya Medical Centre. She was formally the Professor of Medical Microbiology and Head of the Preclinical Sciences Department at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman from 2012-2014. Before that she was with the Faculty of Medicine and Health, International Medical University (IMU) for 9 years, as the Professor of Medical Microbiology and held the positions of Dean of Postgraduate Studies (Post-graduate courses) and Dean of Medical Sciences. Before joining the IMU, she was with Medical Faculty, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) for nearly 20 years as Professor of Medical Microbiology, Senior Consultant of UKM Medical Centre and was also Deputy Dean of Academics. She obtained her MBBS from the University of Malaya in 1982, MSc in Medical Microbiology from the University of London in 1986 and was admitted to the Royal College of Pathologists in UK in 1992. She was conferred a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2000.

Professor Dr Yasmin Abdul Malik is the past President of the Malaysian Society of Infectious Diseases and Chemotherapy. She currently co-chairs the Malaysian Influenza Working Group and chairs the Vaxin Check Programme, which is a national adult immunization initiative. For more than 20 years, she has been directly involved in multicenter infectious diseases vaccine research both nationally and internationally. She has also given numerous talks on vaccine-preventable diseases in national, regional and international seminars and conferences during the same period.
