KL Airport to City by Express Train

The main airport, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is 50 km (35 miles) from the city center. The fastest way to the city is by non-stop express train (RM55 one way – around $14, RM100 round trip – around $25) that takes 28 minutes. Trains run every 15 minutes during peak hours and every 20 minutes at all other times.

Passengers arriving on a budget airline (such as Air Asia), will arrive at a different airport – KLIA2. Transport to the city is very similar, with a fast train reaching the city in 33 minutes.

KL Airport to City by Taxi

There are two types of taxis in KL – red budget taxis and blue executive (premier) taxis. A ride from the airport to KLCC in a budget taxi will cost around RM 100, a good option if there is more than one passenger. To book a cab, head to the prepaid taxi counter and buy a coupon there.

Taxi counters can be found at Transportation Hub on Level 1 in KLIA2, and on Level 3 in KLIA1.

Getting around Kuala Lumpur

Train

The Kuala Lumpur Light Rail Transit (LRT) and the monorail are two of the main transportation modes to get around in Kuala Lumpur. There are four main lines, the Kelana Jaya LRT line, the Ampang LRT Line, the KL Monorail line and the Sri Petaling line. Taxi

Taxis are a convenient way to travel from one place to another in KL, but always insist on using the meter, do not be conned into negotiating for the price.

Grab (ride-sharing)
