Dr Lee is a clinician and specialist in internal medicine, immunopathology and public health. He joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2005 and was awarded Daniel Yu Professorship in 2018. His is currently Research Professor and Deputy Director of the University’s Stanley Ho Centre for Emerging Infectious Diseases. Between 1991 and 2005, Dr Lee headed the Hong Kong Government’s AIDS programme, during which he directed the territory’s HIV prevention, control and treatment services. He is the Founding President of Hong Kong Society for HIV Medicine, and has been chairman of Scientific Committee on AIDS and STI of the Government’s Centre for Health Protection between 2016 and 2022. He is the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Infection Diseases. Dr Lee has, on various occasions, served as consultant to national and international organisations in the assessment of HIV situations, programme evaluations, and advise on harm reduction development. His major areas of research interest include biomedical approach to HIV prevention, infectious disease epidemiology, emerging infectious diseases. Dr Lee has authored over 250 peer-reviewed articles, 40 book chapters, and is the editor of the HIV Manual in Hong Kong.
