Dr. Ruksana Raihan is a medical professional with 20 years of extensive medical education experience. She is passionate in teaching with proven ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate Medical students in field of Virology, Microbiology and Immunology. Her degrees include a MBBS from University of Dhaka in 2000, a MPhil in Virology in 2010 from Bangabandhu Medical University, Bangladesh in 2010, and a PhD in Virology from University of Malaya in 2020. Currently, she is working at the US Bangla Medical College Hospital in the Department of Microbiology as an Associate Professor.
Dr. Ruksana Raihan was part of a greater initiative of establishing Bangladesh’s first private laboratory for COVID-19 diagnosis. In April 2020, she was taken in as the head of Gazi COVID-19 PCR lab. She has supported the Bangladesh Govt and other private institutes in strengthening laboratory services by implementing LIMS, validation of point of care testing kits for COVID-19, trained programmes on PCR, hospital infection control and prevention, antimicrobial stewardship programmes, and conducted various researches being the senior consultant of American Society for Microbiology from April 2020 to present.
She currently works as a Director (Research and Development) of Centre for Biomedical Research and Rraining (CBRT), a complete charitable organisation that envisions training and development of the medical and health sciences graduates, which prepares them to progress a career in the field of biomedical and molecular research. She has also worked as lecturer at AIMST University, Kedah Malaysia from 2013 to 2018. She has vast experience in hepatitis B research and published 25 articles mostly on viral hepatitis. Dr. Ruksana Raihan represented Malaysia in hepatitis Symposium of ‘Miyakawa Memorial Research Foundation,’ Tokyo, Japan in the year 2015, 2016, and 2017.
