Petrick Periyasamy is currently the Head of Infectious Diseases Unit, Medical Department, UKM Medical Centre. He completed his undergraduate training in University Science Malaysia and postgraduate training in internal medicine in the National University of Malaysia and Infectious Diseases Training with the Ministry of Health for 2 years and completed 1 year of clinical fellowship in Infectious Diseases at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney 2009. He is life member of the Malaysian Society of Infectious Diseases and Chemotherapy (MSIDC) and Malaysian Society of HIV Medicine. He is an advocate for antimicrobial stewardship and has been proactively involved in the development of National Antibiotic Guidelines as a reviewer. He also provided expert advisory on Antibiotics Registration for Drug Control Authority, Ministry of Health Malaysia. He is involved heavily with HIV and general infectious diseases work. When he is not busy fighting COVID-19, he loves doing general ID.
