Dr. Norazah Ahmad is a consultant clinical microbiologist with the Institute for Medical Research. She obtained her Medical Degree from USM in 1987 and her Masters degree from the University of London in 1991. She later obtained her PhD in 2002. Dr. Norazah has been with the Institute for Medical Research (IMR), Ministry of Health Malaysia for the past 31 years. She is currently the Head of Infectious Disease Research Centre, which comprised of Virology Unit, Bacteriology unit, Parasitology Unit, Entomology Unit and Acarology unit. Dr. Norazah had been involved in the development of Guidelines for the Ministry of Health Malaysia and involved in several national committees in the Ministry of Health Malaysia including the National Antibiotic Guidelines. She is also the data coordinator for the National Surveillance for Antimicrobial Resistance, for Ministry of Health Malaysia. She is also the Chairperson for the National External Quality Assessment Subcommittee for Microbiology. Dr. Norazah is also the technical assessor for ISO15189. Dr. Norazah has published more than 100 journal articles on infectious diseases in peer reviewed journals and has been the invited reviewer for several scientific journals.
