Iskandar Azwa

Dr. Iskandar Azwa is an Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur with an interest in HIV and sexual health and is the current Vice President of the Malaysian AIDS Council. He is the Clinical Lead for the HIV service in the Infectious Diseases Unit at University of Malaya. His research interests include HIV Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) implementation among key populations, evaluation of newer HIV treatment strategies and HIV resistance. He is the site Principal Investigator (PI) for several key international HIV clinical trials including the START, D2EFT and the Treat Asia HIV Observational Database (TAHOD) studies. He has been one of the driving forces in advancing PrEP implementation research in Malaysia and in increasing community access to HIV prevention biomedical interventions and implementation of de-medicalized models of service delivery of HIV care and prevention.
