Ifedayo Adetifa

Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa is currently the Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control & Prevention (NCDC). Prior, his previous work was in infectious diseases epidemiology with a concentration on vaccine preventable diseases which had an overarching aim of generating evidence for vaccine policy in low- and middle-income countries, particularly those of Africa. His approach was to conduct disease and serological surveillance, vaccine impact studies, examine approaches to monitoring vaccination, and then complement these with mathematical modelling and health economic evaluations. His previous work was also focused in two areas: vaccine seroepidemiology research including its application to estimating vaccination coverage, population immunity and force of infection in African settings; and on the scientific basis for the managing pneumococcal conjugate vaccine programmes in Africa with only pneumococcal carriage data.
